Products

The products coming out of the recycling process of RECYCMAR are:

  • Carpets for re-use
  • Synthetic materials such as vinyl, polypropylene, nylon
  • Organic materials such as cotton and wool
  • Chalk and talcum powder
  • SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel)
  • Sand

CARPETS FOR RE-USE

After the renewal of carpets, the former carpet is collected by the installer. Frequently, the carpet is delivered in a roll and can be re-used. A sorting centre will sort by type, drawing and surface. A recycling unit will clean and repair the carpets.

POLYPROPYLENE

Polypropylene ((C3H6)n) constitutes the majority of recovered fibres of carpet. Carpet polypropylene is sorted according to their quality and colour. Polypropylene fibres are separated from the back of carpet by shearing. After a cleaning process, the fibres of polypropylene can be sold to the polypropylene producers to re-use as raw material in the production of polypropylene products. The fibres are supplied in big bags.

NYLON & POLYESTER

Like polypropylene, nylon carpets and polyester carpets are sorted according to their quality and colour. The nylon or polyester fibres are sheared, cleaned and sold to producers of nylon or polyester for re-use. Recovered fibres are delivered in big bags. Reutilisation of nylon and polyester is a new technology where the particles are strongly reduced in size and re-used as a filler.

VINYL

Vinyl floor coverings and vinyl carpets are cleaned, shredded and delivered to the producers of PVC ((C2H3Cl)n). Vinyl cannot be used for alternative fuel products because they cause a contamination with chlorides which corrode the refractory materials in the oven and causes hydrochloric acid contamination in the exhaust gases. Vinyl is shredded and packed in big bags.

WOOL AND COTTON FIBER

Textiles and carpets in wool and cotton are sorted according to their colour and their quality and treated separately for delivery to the producers of:

  • Stuffing for car seats, sofas, toys, …
  • Insulating panels
  • Media and filters absorbent to clean oil spills
  • Packaging for drainage pipes punctures

Recycled wool and cotton are delivered in big bags or bales.

CHALK AND TALCUM

Chalk (CaCO3) and talcum (Mg3Si4O10(OH)2) powder, are used in textiles as filler which increases the rigidity of the textiles. The minerals are incorporated into fibres for carpet support, depending on the type of the carpet, up to 40% of the weight in the filler is talcum. Chalk and talcum powder are raw materials used in a cement plant for the production of cement. The raw materials in a cement plant are: CaCO3, MgCO3, SiO2, Al2O3 and Fe0. All the recycled material that can be injected in the kiln which contain these elements result in the use of less raw material. This is recycling in its true sense.

«GREEN FUEL» TECAPOWER®

The carpets and textiles that cannot be recycled and the back of the carpets from which fibres have been sheared are transformed into our TECAPOWER products. There are two standardised products:

  • TECAPOWER FL30: carpet and textiles ‘fluff’ with a 30 mm maximum particle size. This alternative fuel replaces fuel oil (petcoke) used in the main burner.
  • TECAPOWER FL70: carpets and fabrics ‘fluff’ with a maximum 70 mm particle size. This alternative fuel replaces existing fuel (petcoke and tires) used in the calciner.

All TECAPOWER products have a calorific value greater than 20 Mj/kg (5,100 Kcal/kg) and a constant and guaranteed chemical composition. TECAPOWER products are emission significantly cleaner than fuels from coal, oil or tires. In particular, emissions of mercury (Hg), SO2 and NOx can be reduced considerably when alternative fuels TECAPOWER will be used to replace coal, oil, or petroleum coke. TECAPOWER products also contain a fraction of biomass (a CO2 neutral fraction) because of the presence of jute, wool and cotton.
